Gran Miele was first created by Vincenzo Martino, a herbalist and liqueur maker in a little village in Italy called Beltiglio. Fernando Martin (Martino), one of the second generation living in Australia, was given the family recipe by his mother Rosmunda Martino, and together they recreated it in the early 1990's.
